Freeze

Freeze is a Teeworlds modification for instagib, created by Tom94, that was released on the 28th of February 2009. It was a direct response to the open letter sent to the community by the ~{MS}~ clan and thereby one of the first successful attempts to revitalize the instagib mod after the original popularity was lost. Instead of killing your opponents, getting hit in the Freeze mod will result into dropping to the ground, getting frozen and thereby unable to move. This mod was inspired by the FreezeRail gameplay of Quake III Arena.

Gameplay
It's a teamgame based on instagib. If you hit an enemy he gets frozen and turns to the ninja skin. Your enemy won't be able to move anymore. Whenever the whole enemy team is frozen, your team gets a point and all frozen tees will be melted. Whenever you stand near a frozen teammate for some time, he will be melted and can play with your team again. You get points by both hitting the enemy, but also by melting your teammates. For this mod it's crucial that the mapsize is balanced with the number of players, or otherwise it will be too easy for players to melt their teammates.
History
Freeze tiles
A major expansion to the mod came in version 4.0 with the introduction of both freeze and melt tiles. These freeze tiles will make a tee freeze in a similar way as being shot would do for anywhere between 0 to 6 seconds. The interaction with these tiles can easily be combined with the freezing or melting when getting shot.
Referees
Since version 5.0, server administrators can set a password for so called 'referees'. These referees can log in to the remote console with their password, but have limited RCON rights which can be adjusted by variables. This is to improve the server management, give trusted players access to avoid abusers, spammers, and to give ALL clan members which are referee the ability to set up clanwars. Well known and respected people can get referee access and fight against abusers on many servers. You can bypass protected slots by using the referee or the RCON password as well now.

Currently there are 8 official maps for the Freeze mod. If you create your own Freeze map and want it to become official you can contact Tom94 by mail or on the Teeworlds forum.

Tunable options
- sv_anticamper - Anticamper on/off. (default: 1)
- sv_anticamper_time - Time in seconds for anticamper to kill people. (default: 10)
- sv_anticamper_range - Range (in pixels) wherein people can move and still being a 'camper'. (default: 100)
- sv_spawnprotect_time - Time in milliseconds how long people don't freeze and just get killed after scoring. (default: 1000)
- sv_inactivity_kick - Time in seconds a player may stay inactive without getting kicked. (default: 120)
- sv_void_frozen - Makes people respawn frozen if they fall into the void. (default: 0)
- sv_all_respawn_after_score - Makes all people (including the alive ones) respawn after scoring. (default: 0)
- sv_reserved_slots - Number of reserved slots. (default: 0)
- sv_reserved_slots_pass - Password of reserved slots. (default: none)
- sv_melt_range - Time in sec for melting by standing nearby. (default: 100)
- sv_melt_time - Time in sec for melting by standing nearby. (default: 1)
- sv_automelt_display - Displays the time left till you automelt with the armor display. (default: 1)
- sv_melt_health - Health you have after being melted while sv_melt_respawn is 0. (default: 10)
- sv_automelt_time - Time in sec for melting without melter. (default: 30)
- sv_join_as_frozen - Players who connect join the teams frozen if set to 1. (default: 0)
- sv_join_as_spect - Players who connect join as spectators and don't mess up locked teams. (default: 0)
- sv_team_balance - Enable or disable auto team balance. (default: 1)
- sv_nopublicchat - Set it up in clanwars so people can only use team chat. (default: 0)
Server commands
- playerlist - Returns a list of the player names and their client IDs (needed for set_team command).
- lock_team team type - Replace team with 0 (red) or 1 (blue), and type with 0 (unlocked) or 1 (locked) (Useful for clanwars).
- set_team id team - Replace if with the player ID, and team with with 0 (red) or 1 (blue) It can bypass locked teams, useful for clanwars).
- mute id time - Muting the player with the ID for time seconds.
- unmute id - Unmuting the player with the ID.

- Automelt time can be displayed, so people know when they will automelt.
- If sv_melt_respawn is set to 0 (you continue playing where you were as frozen) the health you continue with can be set now. This prevents people from camping on melt tiles.
