Skin
From TeeWiki
A tee skin is a file that changes the graphical appearance of your ingame character. Any part of the tee's body can be changed to your own preference while still maintaining it's function as a for example an foot or eye. When you start Teeworlds all tee skins are loaded into memory. There is a maximum of 255 tee skins which can be loaded.
A tee skin file is a portable network graphic (.png) which usually appears in the size of 256 x 128 px. Such a file must be divided in squares of 32x32 px. For a further explanation how to create your own tee skins or edit existing skins see the skin tutorial.
Tee skin structure
All tee skins have a specific structure which the drawings must fit in for the tee skin to appear correctly in-game. The torso, hands, and feet also have a black counterpart which will be drawn first and are used to draw a thicker (outer) outline around the whole tee.
The areas for the basic elements are formed out of these blocks:
- torso
- hand x 2
- foot x 2
- situational eyes x 6
- normal mood
- angry (while picking up the ninja powerup)
- being hit
- happy (when you've killed someone)
- + eyes (currently no use, was meant for dead tees)
- fearsome sight (when someone else picked up the ninja powerup)
Installation of custom skins
Teeworlds is shipped with a variety of tee skins which are located in the subfolder .../teeworlds/data/skins/ . Custom tee skins have to be put in this folder to be available in-game. You can only see those tee skins of other players that you have downloaded and "installed" in this way, as long as both you and the other player have named it the same name. For example, Tee 1 has tee.png, you have tee.png. You will both see the custom skin. Now, here's something to note: if both Tee 1 and you have tee.png, and Tee 1's tee.png looks different than yours, Tee 1 will see his or her tee.png, and you will see your own. Custom tee skins which you do not have or have under another name will not appear, but the game will use the first tee skin in your folder instead.
